How it works

How this calculator works

01

Savings and investing

Savings: use positive starting capital and deposits. Calculate the savings rate or the time needed to reach a target.

02

Loan and financing

Loans: enter the borrowed amount as negative capital and the target as zero. A positive monthly payment reduces the outstanding debt. Extra repayments are possible.

03

Capital withdrawals

Withdrawals: enter positive starting capital and a negative monthly payment. Calculate how much you can withdraw while keeping a chosen balance.

04

Retirement income plan

Retirement plan: calculate withdrawals over a fixed number of years. This is not an insured or guaranteed lifetime pension.

Calculation assumptions

The annual nominal rate is assumed constant. Interest accrues monthly and is credited according to the selected frequency. Monthly payments occur at month-end; annual payments, dividends and percentage fees at year-end. Dividend yields are reinvested and should not also be included in the annual interest rate. Results are rounded, so small differences from the target can remain. Taxes, inflation, changing rates and bank-specific fees are not modeled.

Illustrative calculation using a constant interest rate. Not financial advice. Taxes, inflation and rate changes are not included. No lifetime pension is guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a monthly savings payment?

Enter your target balance, starting capital, annual interest and duration, then click From target beside the monthly payment field.

How do I calculate loan repayments?

Use the guided loan option. The assistant sets the correct signs. Alternatively, enter the loan amount as negative starting capital, set the target to zero and calculate the monthly payment.

Can I calculate a lifetime pension?

No. The withdrawal plan models payments over a chosen number of years, not a guaranteed lifetime annuity.

How do I enter a 4% dividend yield?

Enter 4, not 0.04. Negative values represent percentage fees. Dividend yields are reinvested annually.
